The Show
Fame is a high-energy musical set in New York City at a prestigious High School of Performing Arts. It follows a group of talented students as they navigate the challenges of training and school life, while balancing ambition, identity, relationships, and self-doubt - making it highly relevant to young people today. Driven by iconic songs and dynamic ensemble storytelling, the show is a fun, high energy production that has been wowing audiences around the world since the 1980s - and now Cornwall Performing Arts is proud to be bringing the show- and the chance to star in it- to our beautiful county!
The Performers
We are looking for performers of all experience levels to join us for this production. The show has a huge range of parts, with a range of speaking roles, solo songs, group ensemble numbers, and supporting actors, so there are parts for everyone from accomplished performers to complete beginners. All performers will receive expert tuition, guidance, and mentorship from highly experienced, masters and postgraduate level creative educators. Performers will hone skills in a range of areas and gain transferable skills and knowledge that they can take forwards in all areas of life, as well as be part of a supportive community of like minded friends. For those who want to formalise their experience, there will also be a chance to work towards and gain a formal, accredited Arts Award qualification. This is an added extra to the main programme and can be taken if chosen.
The age range for performers is 8-18.
The Venue
The project takes place at St. Austell Arts Centre. St. Austell is a central location in Mid Cornwall with a mainline train station, bus station, and excellent road links to all parts of the county.
Dates
A full range of rehearsal dates are available on the booking link, but the project will take place over the summer holidays, beginning at the end of July. The performance dates are 19th and 20th August. If you are planning on being away at any point in the rehearsal period, please do still get in touch. We can usually accommodate this if absence dates are known in advance.
